Welcome to the Luanda International School Website rightarrow

A warm welcome to the website of the Luanda International School.
If you are a prospective parent currently residing in Angola or an expatriate with employment opportunities here please read the enrolment pages very carefully or email enrollment@lisluanda.com
Due to the success of the school and the growth of the Angolan economy the school is exceedingly popular.  There are currently over 100 students on our waiting list but priority entry is given to the children of employees of our sponsoring companies.  Note also that placement of children into a particular grade (year group) is based almost entirely on their age cohort.  Expatriates are, therefore, strongly advised to await confirmation of acceptance and placement before travelling to Luanda.
There are many special events each term at LIS – these photos record just some of them, such as Peace Day, the student council elections, Holistic Day, International Award overseas trip to South Africa, International Day, the awarding of the MYP Certificates and the Year 13 graduation. For more fabulous photographs of the MYP graduation please look under Image Gallery, Academic Events, MYP graduation.

2011 IB Diploma Results

The IB Diploma is a challenging and rigorous pre-university entrance program that the school has been offering to students in Years 12 and 13 since 2005. This year’s graduating class received their results in July and it was good news for both them and the school. Two students scored 40 points (out of a maximum 45) and the average point scored by the students (34) was a record for the school. The average subject grade was also up from 5.33 to 5.43 (out of a maximum 7) and in over 80% of the courses the average grade scored by LIS students was above the international average equivalent.

All of the class –except one who is taking a gap year – will shortly be starting undergraduate study in universities in Norway, the US, the UK and Canada. We wish them well. There was also good news for two of our former students who relocated from LIS to ACS in UK after their Year 12 here. Both completed their IB Diplomas successfully and will study Business and Management at university in the UK.

Forthcoming Events
December 16 - Winter break begins
January 10 - Classes resume
