On April 25th, the Year 12 students went to the Buraco community for our CAS action, where we divided into groups to work on our separate projects. After helping my group with the school donations for a while, I took some of the Year 11 students from my group to help me plant the trees I had been growing in my CCA, as part of my project for the village, with the support of the LIS gardeners. We had brought five papaya trees, and in total we planted nine trees, as some of the papaya trees had smaller ones growing beside them, which we planted as well. It felt really good to finally have the opportunity to bring the trees I had grown to a place where they will be beneficial to a community that needs them.
I hope that when we return in September, hopefully with more trees to plant, I will see that those nine trees have been well cared for and have grown big and strong, so that sooner rather than later, they will be able to provide the community with papaya fruits.
